Mannino, Isabella

Montour High School, 12

I will attend University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering to major in Civil Engineering. My goal is to obtain my bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering, as well as earn a certificate in Civil Engineering and Architecture or Construction Management. I also would like to participate in Pitt’s “Three Plus Two” program next summer in Germany at the BMW Headquarters. Outside of the classroom, I would also like to participate on Pitt’s Club Softball team, or do intramural sports.

In Fall of 2020 I will be attending the University of Pittsburgh under the pre-pharmacy major. I have been accepted into the Guaranteed-Pharmacy Program; which means upon completion of two years of pre-pharmacy, I have been guaranteed acceptance into the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. My main aspiration after graduating from pharmacy school is to become a rounding pharmacist in a hospital for children.

I plan to major in Mid-Level Math and Science Education. I also have a desire to become a Child Life Specialist. I have suffered from New Daily Persistent Headaches for three years and know how being occupied can hep deal with the pain. It is my hope to be able to help others alleviate their suffering.

For the future, I plan on attending a 4-year college, and I am currently thinking about applying to the following universities: Rutgers University, Syracuse University, Swarthmore College, Robert Morris University, and Princeton University. At the moment, my focus of study would surround Communications and Journalism, as I wish to become an editor or publisher for a newspaper or magazine. Beyond this, I am also considering Vocal Performance or Classical Voice as a minor or double major.

I will be attending Youngstown State University in the fall of 2020, and continuing my soccer career as a member the YSU DI Women’s Soccer Team. I am currently undecided on my major.

After I graduate from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School I plan to go to college for Early Childhood Education while continuing to pursue my passion of musical theater and dedicating my time to local volunteer activities.

I plan to attend Saint Joseph’s University this fall with a double major of International Business and Spanish. In college, I plan to take on an internship or co-op to gain experience and knowledge in possible careers fields and study abroad in Spain to increase my fluency. While I currently do do not know what I want as a future career, I would like a job where I can utilize my leadership skills and the Spanish language while working internationally in the business world.

My plans are to continue achieving academic excellence. I prioritize doing my best in order to have opportunities to assist others. Over the next two years, I plan to continue my leadership role with Girls Doing Good (GDG). Through GDG, I am able to actively assist those in need while leading my peers to do the same. Looking onwards to after high school graduation, I will aim to further my knowledge of the sciences. My goal is to attend medical school to follow my dream of becoming an allergist.

I definitely plan to graduate from a 4-year university. However, I am still undecided about what my career path is going to be. One potential option is that after graduating from college, I would enter Officer Candidate School for either the Air Force or Navy. Upon serving in the military I would like to join the FBI or CIA. Another potential plan would be to major in business or marketing and pursue a career in the sports/entertainment industry.

My goal is to encompass the five core nursing values, human dignity, integrity, autonomy, altruism and social justice. I will find my place in society and will strive to make a lasting, positive impact.

Developed and implemented a math-tutoring chatbot for local high schoolers in the Philippines.
Applying for a senior project, in which I hope to create a robot that will encourage less food waste and bette sanitation.
Lead role in school’s musical ‘The Mystery of Edwin Drood,’ and have been an active member of the theater department since 8th grade.
Received Best In-State score for Practical Music and Music Theory from the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music and plan to continue to next levels.

After high school, I plan to attend Penn State University for mechanical engineering, starting at The Eberly Campus in Fayette County. I intend to stay involved in community events as much as possible, especially through Interact and the Greensburg Rotary, as well as continue in my position at Chick-Fil-A as a trainer. I hope to take part in co-ops or internships during college, in order to better prepare myself to enter into the engineering industry and make the connections I need for success.

I have been admitted into Case Western Reserve University, Purdue University, University of Pittsburgh, and the Ohio State University engineering schools. I will continue my academic career at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering and study Industrial Engineering with a minor in business. I intend on getting involved in study abroad and co-ops my junior and senior year. My dream job would be to work for a company in the food industry, such as Pepsi.

For my future, I plan on attending Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. There, I have been accepted into their physical therapy program. In addition to my studies, I will be representing the Red Flash as a student athlete, participating in their softball program. After college, my goal is to secure employment near the Pittsburgh area so that I am able to continue serving my community with my newly learned skills.

The plans are to graduate with highest honors from high school then proceed to attend Duquesne University and major in Biochemistry, possibly pursuing a Master’s and then my Doctorate. The career choice interests me because of my diagnosis of Type 1diabetes. This will lead me to a possible career in the health care or science fields such as working in an endocrinology department or for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals. I would also like to continue to volunteer in the community or at the University.

Post-graduation, I hope to work on political campaigns before eventually running for positions of my own. Following college, I hope to gain acceptance into Medical School, which I will take advantage of in order to become a licensed rheumatologist. I have been affected by rheumatoid arthritis in my youth, and it afflicts several of my family members as well. I wish to help those who live in constant pain and discomfort.

In March of 2019 I was diagnosed with two germinoma tumors of the brain, I had four rounds of Chemotherapy and 20 radiation treatments before being cleared on September 4 of that year. Before my fight with cancer I knew that I wanted to go to college for something in the medical field, however I was not completely sure what for. I’m now committed to University of Pittsburgh Greensburg’s nursing program, and I’m planning to continue my education to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Once I have graduated from Barack Obama Academy of International Studies, I plan on pursuing higher education at a college or university. I plan on majoring in Business and Political Science with aspirations of being a Superintendent of a school district. For years, I have been witness to professional development opportunities that train educators to understand the development of students. So I think my work as Superintendent of a school district would be most effective in the lives of others.

I am currently a high school junior and through out my high school career I have found a passion for language, culture and being more understanding. In my final years as a high school student I plan to continue on to French five, become the President or Vice President of the global scholars society, and continue volunteering with in my community.
