Being selected as an awardee, is because of my outstanding contributions I make to my community. Volunteerism is doing things for others without expecting something in return or a reward. It is giving back to the community and donating your time to make contributions, to make the world a better place. Volunteering at food banks and soup kitchens have taught me to be grateful for what you have and that every little thing has value. Being able to volunteer for certain organizations has so many benefits, each time I have been able to learn a hand full of skills in just a few hours. It is such a great opportunity to be able to expand your knowledge and help others at the same time.
Volunteering has had a tremendous impact on my life. I have met new people, learned more about myself, and obtained new skills to use every day. In some of my clubs at school, I have been able to volunteer in my community numerous times. Last year, as treasurer of the National Business Honor Society, we decided to visit a home for the elderly and play bingo with them. Which is so rewarding to be able to interact with them and bring great joy. Along with that, I have been a part of the interact club at my school for three years. For two of those years, I have been a part of bachelor auction. Bachelor auction is an astonishing organization to be a part of, it raises money for one Make A Wish child and they get their ultimate wish. It is such a rewarded feeling, knowing that I have made a child’s wish come true. With volunteering throughout my community and school, I have learned several new things and that I can make a tremendous impact, no matter how big or small.
Volunteering without doubt will affect me and anyone going forward in life. It has taught me life lessons, what to be grateful for, and a hand full of skills. I have learned the importance of the community and coming together in times of need. Once volunteering, I will always want to contribute my time for organizations. By donating your time, you can make the world a better place.
