Views on Volunteerism
Honestly, helping others, honoring others, and providing for others, is so fulfilling that it doesn’t seem like work at all. Feeling so rewarded seems a bit self-serving, but to me that is what makes volunteering so incredible. You really do reap what you sow.
Family involvement in volunteering is even more deeply felt for me. Honoring my Grandmother, through organizing our Relay for Life effort, gives me the chance to fight the disease that took her from us. This opportunity also brings me close to her each year, during the event, and I am rewarded with the memories I relive.
Through the last months of my high school career I have been planning for my future. Providing comfort and care to sheltered animals has rewarded me with a career path in veterinary medicine so that I may permanently help the animal population and the people that cherish them.
