Extracurricular Activities

Project Revive – I started Project Revive to distribute naloxone kits and raise awareness about overdose prevention in my community. So far I have distributed 1000 naloxone kits to various different homeless shelters and recovery centers and raised over $5000 to improve the opioid epidemic., Founder – 2 Years
SAFE Youth Council – I work with a national group to promote youth safety in the opioid epidemic and also helped create a podcast focused on addiction and public health., Lead Youth Advisor – 2 Years
Hillman Cancer Center Summer Research Program – I worked on computational biology research using simulations to study how cells respond to different changes., Student Researcher – 1 Year
McCandless 175 Committee – I help plan community events to celebrate the town of McCandless’s 175 years of being established like blood drives and fundraisers to increase local involvement., Lead Youth Advisor – 1 Year
Varsity Tennis – I lead my team as captain and helped us reach the state semifinals while competing at a high level., Captain – 3 Years

Community Involvement

Allegheny Health Network Wexford Hospital – I support patients and assist staff while learning how a hospital operates day to day. I have volunteered over 30 hours with AHN., Clinical Volunteer – 1 Year
Nursing Home Volunteer – I spend time helping residents with daily activities and keeping them engaged through conversation and games. I have volunteered over 200 hours at this nursing home over four years., Clinical Volunteer – 4 Years
Emergency Medical Technician – I have helped treat over 150 patients by assisting them with emergency response care including CPR airway support and other life saving techniques with the help of other paramedics and EMTs. I have volunteered over 150 hours in my last two years., Volunteer EMT – 2 Years
Veterans Affairs Medical Center – I observe doctors in 7 different specialties and learn how they interact with patients and make decisions., Medical Shadowing – 2 Years

Plans

In the future, I hope to become an emergency medicine physician where I can be on the front lines of care and help patients in their most critical moments. In college, I plan to study science, while also continuing service in my community to gain exposure to the field of medicine. In the future, I want to not only treat patients but also work to improve access to care and improve the health of my community.
