Extracurricular Activities

Neveryone Neverywhere: I co-founded Neveryone Neverywhere, an online platform to connect voices, histories, and identities of multiracial youth. I incorporate many interests: researching the Mulitracial Movement which allowed racial multi-select on the US Census, analyzing survey responses of mixed-race perspectives on affirmative action. I keep a list of mixed-race role models to spotlight their content. I’ve reached 150+ mixed-race youth and collected 25+ anecdotes of experiences worldwide. I’m working on a podcast in partnership with Saturday Light Brigade Radio that will feature interviews of multiracial individuals from an array of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives and content on the widely unknown multiracial history., Co-Founder, Executive Director – 4 Years
Leaders Across the World: 501(c)(3); brings youth together from around the world to discuss social justice issues, strengthen cross-cultural competency, and develop next generation of community leaders. Impacted 4,000+ youth across 55 countries. Provide free, six-week virtual exchange program where youth exchange ideas, cultures, perspectives and experiences; fund changemakers to implement grassroot projects with our mentorship and support. I’m researching and organizing funds and grants ($15k+), hosting LATW programs (themes: environment, AI, civic engagement), keeping connection with alumni, running blog on website, creating and sharing newsletter, keeping track of tasks of other members. 1 of 26 Taco Bell Ambition Accelerator semi-finalists., Executive Director of Resources – 3 Years
The Saturday Light Brigade Radio: SLB greatly values the power of voice, whether that’s through speaking, singing, or written work, and we pay great attention to the power of youth voices. I’ve completed a number of projects, including multiple social justice documentaries featuring interviews of experts regarding topics such as cultural appropriation in fast fashion and immigrant and refugee struggles in the US, reviews of shows at the local New Hazlett Theatre, written articles for Kidsburgh, and made commentaries on the struggles of the mixed-race community. This summer I was an intern and created projects for Kidsburgh, SLB camps, and the Neveryone Neverywhere Podcast., Youth Reporter; Intern – 3 Years
Dance (Chinese traditional, ballet, jazz, modern); singing (jazz, pop, classical: Mendelssohn Choir): Dance: started at age 4 with traditional Chinese dance, added on western styles after moving to the US at age 12. I’m the class leader and instructor at my dance studio, the only dance studio that offers Chinese traditional dance in western PA. This has inspired me to gain respect and visibility for Chinese dance. Singing: started lessons at age 8. Since then, I’ve starred in many school productions, became the only freshman in Chamber Choir (only open to sophomores and up), became jazz ensemble vocalist, sing with both Junior Mendelssohn and Mendelssohn Choirs as a choir member and soloist., Class Leader, Instructor; Soloist, choir member – 4 Years
Asian Student Union: I host discussions about Asian identity in America, emphasizing Asia’s diversity and intersectionality by electing regional leaders, inviting guest speakers from abroad, and partnering with other school clubs (affinity groups, Mental Health club, International Club Political Civil Discourse Society, etc.). Organize weekly meetings and activities, manage funds, organize bake sales and fundraising, and initiate and lead holiday celebrations and educational activities for the entire school community (ex.: performances for Lunar New Year assembly, providing activities for International Fair with elementary school students, presentations, trivia, food for Diwali gathering, PoShuiJie water balloons, powder for Holi, spicy noodle challenge, calligraphy, tea tasting)., Vice President – 4 Years

Community Involvement

Saturday Light Brigade Youth Advisory Council: As Co-Chair of the Youth Advisory Council, I organize council meetings, keep members on task, and I work closely with SLB staff and other members of the council creating and leading an array of workshops, activities, and live radio sessions to involve more youth in the studio to share their voices with the world. I also lead the Community Outreach and Programming sub councils, collecting anecdotes of youth experiences in the studio and planning creative and engaging activities at SLB. Last year, YAC doubled youth involvement to 2,000+ people, and that number’s continuing to rise!, Co-Chair – 2 Years
Model: I communicate the message of the designer to the world. Modeling since I was 6, I’ve done 300+ photo shoots, 10+ TV commercials, 5+ voice overs, and 40+ fashion shows for brands like GAP, BMW, Levi’s, Nautica, Meters Bonwe, Barbie, Jeep, Vitamix, etc.. Been in Grazia and billboards in Shanghai; filmed a movie and TV show. When my dad lost his job, my modeling money was the only source of income my family had., Freelance model; signed model – 11 Years
Private carnival vendor: I work at multiple fairs during the summer, selling shaved ice, lemonade, bubble tea, soda, iced tea, and bubble lemonade, offering 160+ combinations. Often, I am the only worker, so I restock ingredients and cups, clean the stand, take orders, make orders, organize payments, report to the owner, and take care of all customer needs. I love meeting new people and providing relief on hot summer days!, Manager – 3 Years
Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh Violins of Hope: Sang as a part of Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh at Heinz Hall with Pittsburgh Youth Orchestra to support Violins of Hope, an organization that collects Holocaust-related string instruments in Israel. They had an exhibition at Carnegie Mellon University, and I sang with my choir and as a soloist to promote the exhibit as well as the countless stories behind each of the 70+ violins of Holocaust victims. With Pittsburgh’s history of anti-semitism, especially with the Tree of Life Shooting, this volunteering activity was especially important to me., Soloist, choir member – 1 Year
NextGen DCNR Council: I work with people across Pennsylvania to preserve and improve state parks. I am a member of the Equity group, where we focus on making the state parks of Pennsylvania accessible and enjoyable for all, like implementing equipment libraries, inclusive signage, and accessible trail paths. I am also the Onboarding Lead, so I handle the selection process, reaching out to members and organizing their transition onto the team, and renewing membership in the council., Onboarding Lead; Equity group member – 2 Years

Plans

In autumn 2025, I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School to study business. This will be a brand new chapter in my life. During my four years, I plan to study abroad for one semester, gaining skills to continue my work in international exchange. I aim to bridge this dichotomy – the international and the hyperlocal – to help connect individuals and increase intercultural understanding and learning.
