Research for Pitt Global Health Case Competition: Student researcher. Worked with PhD student to compile sources on Jordan and environmental issues for competition scenario, Student Researcher – 1 Year

Purple Eagle: President. Develop grant strategy, identify grant opportunities, and lead team of grant writers; write grants to support underfunded activities at high school., President – 2 Years
Varsity Soccer: Captain. Starting line-up freshman year. Won Most Valuable Player Award Sophomore Year. As captain, organize fundraisers and events and lead team on and off the field., Captain – 3 Years
Pittsburgh Girls Choir: Chamber Choir and Concentio. Sing in the two highest level PGC high school choirs. Elected as student member on organization’s Board of Directors., Student Representative – 3 Years
Superintendent Student Advisory Council: Chair of civic engagement subcommittee. Plan annual district-wide conference and present on civic engagement to 500+ PPS students annually; coordinate district wide voter registration drives., Student Representative – 3 Years

Community Involvement

Allegheny Youth Vote Huddle: Lead Student Coordinator. Organized two county-wide events teaching 210+ students how to run voter registration drives. Trained teen leaders on how to run event. Arranged attendance by local officials to hear student perspective, facilitated conversations about issues in Pittsburgh communities and steps to solve them with local officials., Lead Student Coordinator – 2 Years
NextGen:PGH and Civic Stage: Program Director. Organize meetings, work with Heinz College students, coordinate community outreach and collaboration with organizations. Lead Democracy Incubators to bring civic conversations to the Pittsburgh community with the goal of healing and inspiring action., Program Director – 1 Year
PA Youth Vote: PA Youth Vote Ambassador for Allegheny County. Organize PA Youth Vote efforts in Allegheny County, organize events to provide civic information in underserved communities, coordinate with fellow ambassadors across the state., Student Ambassador – 1 Year
The Civics Center: Summer Intern. One of 6 nationally-selected students on Youth Advisory Council. Advise The Civics Center, a national organization dedicated to youth civic engagement, on national programing supporting youth led voter registration drives and civic engagement programs., Student Intern; National Advisory Council Member – 1 Year
Pittsburgh Public Schools Student and Government Council: Speak with state elected officials. Work with city staff to allocate a $50,000 block grant to D9 nonprofits with the office of Rev. Burgess., Student Representative – 2 Years

Plans

After high school, I plan to attend a four year college. Currently, I am looking to study political science, international relations, or something similar. Before I take that leap, I am considering taking a year after high school to continue expanding the work I do in Pittsburgh and advocating for the voices of my peers.
